Technical Weighing Services, Inc. (TWS) provides the steel industry with weighing systems, roll force measurement systems and strip tension systems for the steel mill, paper mill and heavy industries.   

FTI is managing TWS’ entry into foreign market steel industries by employing the Core 8-Step export management program.  FTI is also coordinating the temporary importation and re-exportation of load cells and weighing systems for repair from steel mills world-wide.  

Headquartered in Griffith, Indiana, the heart of America’s steel industry, TWS has manufacturing facilities in northwest Indiana and in Huntsville, Alabama.  The facilities provide manufacturing of all components from load cells and scale structures to complete integrated systems that are all mill duty.

Rolling Mill Load Cells

For new installations, we custom design and manufacture  Rolling Mill Load Cells, in capacities up to 10 Million Pounds.  We also offer direct replacements for other makes and models. This American-made product is designed for mill duty service.

 

At right is an RK Series Rolling Mill Load Cell and is a precision force measuring devise designed to install in the upper part of the mill stand.  TWS’ Strain Gage (Wheatstone-Bridge) design minimizes the effect of uneven loading and high impact loads.

SCALE DESIGN & MANUFACTURING

TWS manufactures and offers a wide variety of scales and weighing structures up to 2 million lbs.  CAD design and drawings, field engineering and scales retrofitted into existing equipment are all part of the scales segment offered by TWS. 

Regardless of the type scale you need - custom designed and manufactured or standard scales off the shelf, we have the solution to your scale needs.

INTEGRATED CONTROL SYSTEMS 

Technical Weighing Services offers more than stand alone scales and load cells.  The need often exists to integrate these systems into a control package.  Some of these applications include Batching, Billet/Bloom, Scrap Blending for the Steel Industry and the Omni Scale Digital Diagnostic System, typically used for harsh environments. Other applications are Wireless Communications, Concrete, and Asphalt Batching using Hoppers, Truck or Rail scales. Your process may be a simple application with analog or serial signals, or stand alone batching systems for the food and material handling industries.  We also integrate scales with computers to interface with your level 2 control systems.
